Applied Science in Disaster Journal (ASDJ) implements a rigorous and transparent peer review process to ensure the quality, validity, and academic integrity of all published articles.

1. Initial Manuscript Screening

All submitted manuscripts are first evaluated by the editorial team to assess their suitability with the journal’s focus and scope, originality, completeness, and compliance with the author guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be rejected without external review.

2. Double-Blind Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are subjected to a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed to ensure impartiality and objectivity.

Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field of applied science and disaster studies.

3. Review Criteria

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on the following criteria:

  • Originality and novelty of the research

  • Relevance to applied science in disaster studies

  • Methodological rigor and scientific validity

  • Clarity of presentation and structure

  • Significance of findings and contribution to the field

4. Review Outcomes

Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the editor will make one of the following decisions:

  • Accept submission

  • Accept with minor revisions

  • Revise and resubmit (major revisions)

  • Reject submission

Authors are required to revise their manuscripts in accordance with reviewers’ comments and submit a response detailing how the revisions were addressed.

5. Final Decision

The final decision on manuscript acceptance rests with the Editor-in-Chief, taking into account the reviewers’ evaluations and the authors’ revisions. The editorial decision is final.

6. Confidentiality and Ethical Standards

All manuscripts and review materials are treated as confidential documents. Reviewers and editors must adhere to ethical standards, avoid conflicts of interest, and report any suspected misconduct, including plagiarism or data falsification.

Through this peer review process, Applied Science in Disaster Journal ensures the publication of high-quality, reliable, and impactful research that advances applied science and practical solutions in disaster management.
